At the end of September, the members of European Law Firm convened in Riga for the third annual general meeting of 2018. This meeting began a little earlier than usual to accommodate a number of additional client and chambers of commerce meetings arranged by the host firm to explore business opportunities and promote member firms and the network overall.
Friday's conference, took place at Riga Graduate School of Law. Representatives from 21 member firms met with delegates from Corporate Tax Alliance (CTA), a network of European and International tax specialists to look at the synergies between the two networks and determine potential joint working opportunities. Ferry Weelen, partner at Holla advocaten gave a presentation on comparative aspects of franchising law in various European jurisdictions and raised some ethical aspects in Dutch franchising relations. Jan van Tilburg introduced CTA and presented the tax implications for the various supply chain distribution models.
The meeting, hosted by our Latvian member KLOTINI SERGIS, also saw the launch of network's new directory, the host firm's new website and included referral information and project updates plus a discussion on how members could take full advantage of their membership and build on the success of the network to date as we head towards our 30th anniversary.
The members of European Law Firm meet three times a year to discuss matters and strengthen links between members. Preparations are well underway for the next general meeting to be held in Milan in January 2019, hosted by SCF Studio Legale.
